OUR JOURNEY
Carmel Retreat Centre near Sogathur Lake, located in Dharmapuri District of Tamil Nadu, India, is a CMI renewal centre run by Coimbatore-Preshitha Province with the spirit and vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder father of CMI Congregation. This centre, which is actively involved in the proclamation of the Word of God, flourished within a short span of time as a place of spiritual renewal for several thousand people from different parts of the world.
Carmel Retreat Centre was the vision of Rev. Fr. Stephen Thachil CMI, the Founder Director of the Centre. It is supported by a team of enthusiastic priests, spirit-filled counsellors, a fervent intercessory group, and dedicated volunteers. The presence of God can be felt in the Retreat Centre, as the whole of the centre is echoed with prayers and chants of praise and worship, round the clock.
Our Retreat Centre has been at the forefront of the renewal of the Church of Tamil Nādu and it remains without any change. Over the years, many initiatives like residential retreats for the lay faithful, religious and priests, one-day programmes, healing services, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, intercessory prayers, spiritual counselling and assistance, etc., have been very effective. Multitudes of people gain spiritual nourishment and guidance from the ministries offered here.
